Chicago was/is a fantastic band because of their extremely high musical competence & generational major lyrical content.
Don’t get that? You’re not alone. Instruction is a requisite part of my appointment right now so it isn’t likely to be a end unto itself but if I can help just one of my undergrads avoid the fate of many here, I’ll be able to have my “cake” & eat it.

Read the words of this song, place them in the context of the time in which they were written (and all that has happened in view of the fact that), and if you reckon the “composition” is all that is going on here than what “hole” do you have your head in?
Knock it off. If you are both so intelligent and use them huge words so eloquently, do something useful. Kids in your community school need teachers to help them learn to read. Then you both can do something about what you learned from the “Message” instead of flapping your cake hole.

Your “intellect” CANNOT gavitate to the composition by classification. The “composition” is experiential, requiring only an above ambient condition. As such, it is an emotional endeavor.
But, it is made within the purview of applied intellect in the presence of an emotional encounter.
To re-encounter it fully, that same schema must be observed, otherwise you are small-changing yourself.

I still prefer the 1972 version where Terry sang, this one seemed to rehearsed and clean, though I admit you can hear the guitar better. Even Peter’s vocals were more soulful and responsive to Terry’s leads.
