    it really helps Mr.Steve, although I’m sure I don’t make mistakes in those forms you said, but it’s fantastic to remember the rules of how we must use the words :)

    @hanoit
    strictly speaking, ‘police’ is singular in American English
    If we’re talking about the police as an institution, then probably we’d use the singular. So “The police is part of society”.
    But if, as in your example, we can imagine individual police officers standing by the roadside, then perhaps we’d be more inclined to use the plural.

  • hanoit:

    I reckon theres a mistake, ive neva been to the Us, but i watch a lot of series from there and i always hear “the police are”, i thought “police is” was incorrect in both countries

  • mgayetun:

  • camus0202:

    the last part is very amusing… I’m laughing haha

    Well… very fascinating the class for today. Just I want to say that in english british the letter “R” doesn’t pronunce like american english. Example

    American Enlish

    Ca/r/
    Eithe/r/…

    British English:

    Ca/*/
    Eithe/*/….

    For me, british english is more polite
    What do you reckon?
