I want to write a novel, I know how to write but don’t know a lot about writing fiction, can anyone suggest the best book on fiction writing?
The little paragraph below is the one in question:
“I’ll be just fine.” He stood up and brushed himself off in a gesture of nonchalance. “Worry about yourself.”
Is this way correct? Or should I be separating the action and the dialogue?
Thanks!

I’m really new at writing, but I’m educated in it and I know how to write and everything, but I just don’t know where to start. I want to write a teen romance novel, and I usually start with an outline, but a small one at that, then a more detailed outline, a rough draft, then the final draft. But that was more of an essay or a short story with an assigned topic, so I really don’t know where to begin. Should I use those methods, other methods, or should I just dive right in and start writing? HELP!
This is the biggest place I have trouble, in the dialogue, how to keep it exciting, and flowing.

I’ve been to sites where it says dialogue is a great way to start off a novel, while others say that publishers don’t read past the first sentence if you start it off with dialogue.
And I’m not talking about something like, “How was your day?” she asked. More captivating dialogue.
But even if it is captivating, is it a good way to start off a teen comedy novel?
